Memories and LuxuryThis warm and welcoming house with its cozy lived-in feel, is another show case of top interior designer, Selwyn Elkin. Besides decorating its interiors, the home required structural changes including the removal of part of the main bedroom to install a toilet which was missing in the en-suite bathroom; adding storage space to the open-plan kitchen; and the conversion of a small balcony into a practical washroom complete with washing machine, dryer and hanging space.
Another challenge was to plan exactly how to accommodate the furniture and curtains they wished to bring from their larger home in South Africa to their new abode in Israel. The owners sent Selwyn photos and applying his talent and vision, he created a perfect puzzle of what would go where. He managed to accommodate their entire lounge and dining room suites, an art collection, several beautiful pieces of South-African made Ardmore sculpture, curtains, a fabulous Art Deco table, an old pink and black Persian silk rug, and many more much-loved family treasures and memories.
The owner is also a keen gardener and Selwyn, who also designs outdoor living spaces, created a beautiful area for her to continue her hobby. Working alongside a local landscaper, the garden features eye-level flower-boxes and small trees. They also used the old deck which combined with the greenery, conveys the home’s remarkable, cozy and relaxed atmosphere right into the garden and beyond.
